WELCOME TO 7TH GRADE READING & LANGUAGE ARTS !
I hope that I can help you become a stronger reader and writer this year. I have been teaching 7th grade reading and language arts at Troup Middle School since 2018-2019. Before that, I taught 6th-grade reading and language arts in Jacksonville ISD for 12 years. I graduated from UT Tyler in 1993 and started out as a 2nd-grade teacher in Tyler ISD. My husband and I live in Tyler where I've lived since the 7th grade. We have two grown children and are now proud grandparents to a precious little girl! I look forward to getting to know all of you this year. GO TIGERS!!!

CHROMEBOOKS
STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO BRING THEIR LAPTOPS TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY. THEY NEED TO CHARGE THEM EVERY NIGHT AND ALSO BRING THEIR CHARGER WITH THEM TO SCHOOL. ALL OF THIS NEEDS TO BE IN THE COMPUTER BAG THAT CAME WITH THEIR LAPTOP (NEVER CARRIED IN A BACKPACK). STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE EARBUDS/HEADPHONES WITH THEM EACH DAY, READY TO USE FOR AUDIO ASSIGNMENTS IN CLASSES. NO EARBUDS/HEADPHONES ARE TO BE WORN UNLESS USING THEM IN CLASS FOR ASSIGNMENTS. IF YOU ARE SEEN WEARING THEM IN THE HALLS, THEY WILL BE TAKEN UP.
IMPORTANT SUPPLIES TO HAVE FROM DAY ONE
*A BACKPACK to keep all of your things in and carry from room to room. LOCKERS are being used this year, but you still need a way to keep the materials with you for each class you go to.
*EARBUDS OR HEADPHONES so you can do assignments with audio in class (you can buy them for $1.25 at Dollar Tree that work well). This is not an option--you HAVE to have them. I suggest that you do not bring an expensive device like "Beats" headphones. If you choose to bring wireless ones, I would leave your expensive Apple earbuds at home. You can buy a cheap, perfectly good set of wireless ones at the Five Below store in Tyler for about $8.
All students should join my Remind, but I would really like for at least one parent/guardian to join as well. It is a great way to keep up with what is happening on our campus, upcoming tests, reminders about projects/assignments due, as well as important events, etc. Parents who join...please use both your first and last name. If your student has already joined, I think you can link yourself to their name.

If a student is out sick for an extended time, they can go to Google Classroom to check for assignments they can possibly be getting done so they are not so far behind on work when they return.
